I take care of myself by spending time with my family. It also helps when I remember that I’m human and can only do so much.

For many years I ignored my depression and anxiety. 2025 is my year! I have started therapy and learning a lot of coping skills and things that I need to do for me. To take care of myself and my mental health I snuggle with my cats, take vacation, exercise and allow myself to create healthy boundaries.

Mental Health Month is a time to take a look at how you are doing mentally. Take time for your self, take time to talk to others who may need someone to brighten their day. When I am stressed I get out my color pencils and my adult coloring books and color, it is relaxing and I am able to get my mind in a good place.

It’s a time to reflect on myself and my worth, my goals, and allowing myself to have me time.

Mental health for me is a time to honor the silent battles I’ve fought behind closed doors, the strength it takes to simply keep going, and the courage I’ve found in facing my shadows. This month holds weight because it speaks to the part of me that once felt unseen, unheard and misunderstood. It validates the highs, the lows, the cycles and the still moments of growth in between. It’s a reminder that my story matters- that resilience isn’t always loud and that softness too is strength. Mental health month means everything to me because I am no longer hiding. I’m learning to live, love and lead with intention- not spite of my struggles, but because of wisdom they’ve carved into me. This is my time to reclaim my voice, honor my progress, and remind others that they are not alone. Healing is personal, but it’s also collective. This month I celebrate both.

To take care of myself and my mental health I like to go outside and soak in the sunshine or simply stay inside all day on my couch, snuggling with my dogs.

May is the perfect month to highlight the importance of mental health. Winter is over and spring is on its way. For me, it is the perfect time to reflect on the choices I have been making which may or may not be healthy, both physically and mentally. Am I exercising and stretching enough? Am I on my iPad too much? Am I showing up for myself, my life, and the people in my life, or am I disassociating? Am I being kind to myself or am I being my own worst enemy? As the trees bud and flowers begin to bloom, I can remember the importance of self care and caring for others, and how those things ensure my mental health.
