I commenced using Perth Family Lawyers in December 2016. I separated from my Wife whilst away with the Defence Force at the time however the professionalism of the Team at PFL immediately stood out. Initially I was represented by Ann Maude who through her extensive experience with Defence Force members was able to guide me and instil into me the patience required to experience the Family Court Process and have the patience herself in working with someone in Defence who is often uncontactable or travelling. Due to external developments I also began working with Nicola Bowen whose firm, no nonsense advice and representation I will always be grateful off. At no point throughout my process did I feel like I was being “taken for ride”.
If you are fortunate for any of the staff at PFL represent you I am sure it will quickly become apparent that you will definitely not be misinformed, misguided or mistreated. Whilst they primarily practice family law my situation required another stream of the legal field, which PFL used their years of experience to recommend other likeminded and experienced legal professionals who they trusted to represent me. This made it clear to me that the team wanted the best possible representation for my daughter and my situation.
Due to PFL having all hands-on deck and personal approach they made me feel like my daughter and I feel like we were part of the PFL Family. They were able to clearly and concisely brief any additional lawyers due to their involved approach which enabled the PFL team to know everything about my daughter and I, and therefore save me money in not having to brief the additional lawyer myself. You will notice all lawyers cost money, however the PFL Team will make you feel as they did with me that your money is a worthy, efficient and economical investment into your best representation possible.
At times things will become hectic in the family and other court process however at no time did it appear like this was something any of the team couldn’t handle. I was always kept inform of the process and communicated any developments as soon as they occur. With myself working away and often being uncontactable for up to a month at a time a lot of other firms may take this as a chance for a break from working on my file. This was not the case with the team at PFL, if anything without my own worry and inexperienced interference the team were able to progress my case a lot easier.
If there is documentation that is required to be submitted to any of the courts you can rest assured that it will be submitted on time. You will see that no stone will be left unturned in representing your situation. The dynamic approach that the team will use I think is personalised to each of their clients and is second to none.
Trying to stay away from writing an essay I would recommend the Perth Family Lawyers Team to anyone. Whilst at times I was confused about the calmness the team dealt with what feel like intense situations, you will soon see that this is due to the Team working as a Team. Always using each other’s knowledge and experience to represent you in the best way possible.

I had an incredibly positive experience through out the time Perth Family Lawyers were representing me. They were fantastic at getting back to me, keeping me informed, acknowledging my correspondence. The whole process was made so much easier thanks to the help of the Perth Family Lawyers and if I'm ever in need of their services again, I would definitely go back to them.
Peter banks represented myself and previously represented my partner for his custody matter and was fantastic, as soon as I needed representation, he was the first person I called up to see if he would be able to. He is very dedicated to his clients and always feels like he has a personal interest in your matter. He will cut to the chase with you, will try to minimize your costs as much as possible and make you feel like you have a friend in the court when you need one.
It took a long time, but Samantha and her team were with me the entire way.
I read some of the other reviews on here, one particularly negative one claims that the lawyers are only after money and breaking families. Samantha could have prolonged things to a scheduled trial with an estimated cost of over $20,000, but she was crucial in reaching a negotiated agreement between me and my ex. She saved me a mint - I'm using the unspent funds to buy a motorcycle. 🏍
Samantha was able to be empathic towards my ex, seeing when she is scared or nervous and is able to act and react in a way that helps moving things forward. This would have been a red flag for me and would have prompted me to press the advantage. Cooler heads, thankfully, prevailed.
Having Samantha speak for me (I only uttered a few words in court over several visits) certainly allowed the process to go more smoothly. I am quick witted and, occasionally, sharp-tongued, and having Samantha act on my behalf, we always had a calm, measured response even when passions (the bad kind) were in full bloom.
I wish the whole process had gone faster, but that was no fault of PFL or Samantha. Blame family court and the back-and-forth from parents in conflict for the delays.
It cost me dearly, the divorce, but it would have been easily five times as costly without Samantha and her team. Personal attention and attention to detail won the day.
In a most difficult time in ones life, divorcing husband after 24 years, Samantha was like a family member, helping me through the ordeal. I cannot recommend Nicholas Cooper and his team highly enough. When searching for a lawyer to help me through a property settlement with my ex, I was completely disheartened with the 3 lawyers before him that I spoke with until I found this practice. As to the PFL team, they have all been great as well. I went with them initially as I liked the fact that they are not a company trying to just extend events to get that next paid for email out of you, or keep you in courts to buffer their bottom line. I actually believe that they care about your individual circumstances and to help you through this as best as possible, minimising your costs.
This is especially relevant if you are a male, they are also fully aware of how the Family Law system is stacked against you regardless of how honest a person you may be. Whilst a lot cannot be changed by them due to being the way Family Law is (however I know they want it changed and do pursue this), I have felt that their understanding of the male in the process of Family Law, knowing the "tricks" that other lawyers may look to and working to avoid or circumnavigate them makes the process far more tolerable.
I cannot highly recommend them enough, especially Peter Banks (who honestly I think would also fit perfectly playing bass guitar in any band 😁)
