My Feedback for 2023 Project Controls Summit

This year’s sessions were very interesting as well as applicable to my current work assignments. 2023’s Summit was another great summit and very helpful to know the latest industrial trends and changes in different technologies that could impact the project controls industry.

Thank you Shohreh and Kamran for this wonderful conference and making these sessions available after the Summit. Having access for multiple times to review these sessions are invaluable in learning and retaining more.

I especially enjoyed the Break DJ sessions each day and seeing you Shohreh and Kamran showing off your dance moves.

My Feedback about the Project Control Summit 2023
Introduction
Because I already recorded a video testimonial about the Project Control Summit 2023 for the final Challenge in the Networking Lounge, I did not record another video about my feedback regarding the conference. Please find below the written comments which I shared as part of the final Challenge, as well as some additional remarks.
“Hi! Greetings from Munich, Germany! I’m Audrey Robinson-Seurig. I am a Senior Project Controller at a small company in the aerospace field.
I attended my first Project Control Summit in 2022. It was my first experience with an educational program organized by the @Project Control Academy. Last year’s Summit was an amazing event, and this year’s Project Control Summit was even more outstanding! More than 4,000 project professionals from over 120 countries attended the 2023 conference. The theme of this year’s Summit was “Lead the Way in Project Controls”.
During the virtual 2023 Summit, I watched presentations and panel discussions, took a lot of notes, asked questions, joined interactive surveys, provided immediate feedback, visited the Expo/Trade Fair, took selfies in front of my computer, completed almost all of the challenges, met fellow Project Professionals in the Networking Lounge, and watched educational videos in the new Job Fair area. I even watched a clip from “The Big Bang Theory” about Project Management in the VIP Lounge!
Sessions
My favorite sessions included:
• Shohreh Ghorbani’s Opening Keynote on Day One, entitled “Leading the Way in Project Controls: How to Bridge the Gap Between Project Controls and Project Management”
• Innocentia Mahlangu’s presentation on Day Two, called “Leading the Way with Diverse Teams”
• Kamran Akbarzadeh’s inspirational Keynote on Day Three, entitled “Leadership Soup for Leading the Way in Project Controls and Management”
• I also enjoyed watching the technical panel discussions, because they were especially interactive.
Takeaways
Kamran’s Keynote was filled with countless Takeaways. I liked Kamran’s use of quotations from famous people, such as Oprah Winfrey’s statement “Passion is energy” and Mahatma Gandhi’s remark “Be the change you want to see in the world”.
Challenges
What were the challenges? For example, for one challenge I attended at least 5 sessions on Day One of the conference and provided evidence, specifically a selfie and snaphots of my computer screen. Another challenge was to share my experience and lessons learned from Day One of the Summit. A different challenge involved posting an article on LinkedIn about my experience on Day One of the conference.
Closing
During the Closing Ceremony, I was honored to receive the Summit Networking Star Award. I would like to thank Shohreh Ghorbani, Kamran Akbarzadeh, and Joel Jacob for organizing the conference. Special thanks to the volunteers in their support team for making this event possible! In addition, the speakers deserve a round of applause for sharing their valuable insights and experience.
Based on the knowledge we gained by attending the Project Control Summit 2023, the conference participants will now be able to Lead the Way in Project Controls!”
Additional Remarks
Please consider offering next year’s Project Control Summit as a Hybrid Conference (partly in-person and partly online). In this way, those who attend the event in person can interact face-to-face and many more people can attend remotely. The virtual audience will still benefit from learning new information about project controls by watching the videos of the live presentations and panel discussions. They could also ask the speakers questions and meet other project professionals in the online Networking Lounge.
I have already added my name to the e-mail list for the Project Control Summit 2024. However, I do not know whether I will be able to travel to the U.S.A. then, in order to participate in person. If I am unable to attend it, I will greatly miss the wonderful learning opportunities which I have experienced during the Project Control Summits 2022 and 2023.

I had a great experience! I will be recommending going to my coworkers and would definitely suggest getting an upgraded pass. Being able to go back and watch session and reference the slide show will be extremely helpful.
I loved being able to hear from experts from around the world and can't wait to meet people in person in 2024.

My only suggestion would be to have the slide shows available as the presenters are talking. I don't know if that would be possible, but I like to follow along and take notes as I go.
Also having the sessions split beforehand would be helpful. I was confused at times and definitely missed some of the "attended" buttons.

My complaint is minor. The sound effects were too loud compared to the speakers. I learned to remove my earphones when they would come up or people were being introduced.

It was a wonderful and memorable event for me for sessions I had attended. Speakers were great, loud and clear

I will always recommend the summit to anyone who wants to grow in their field of project management and controls. Or who wants to begin a career in it. I do like the fact that the conference is always able to get quality speakers and industry experts for the attendees.

I had the pleasure of attending the Largest Global Virtual PC Conference with Project Control Summit & Project Control Academy this weekend, and I can't express how honored I was to meet so many talented professionals from all over the world who shared their insights and their knowledge with their great presentations !
The conference focused on how to take your project management skills to the next level, and learning about the latest and greatest in project controls technology, where they show us how to implement real-world Project Controls strategies, how to be a better communicator and leader, and how to go lead the way in project controls.
I attended 4 days including the welcome reception that were simply amazing! Each day was led by professionals in high positions who had a wealth of knowledge and experience in the field of project management. We really enjoyed every session , thank you for every presentation it was more than expected !
It was a wonderful opportunity for all of us to connect with like-minded professionals, I'm grateful to have been a part of it and I'm excited to see what the future holds for me as project engineer
Thank you to all the organizers, speakers, and attendees, panelists, and sponsors from around the world who have made this global conference possible and for making this such a memorable event. I'm already looking forward to PCS 2024 !!
Special thanks to :
Shohreh Ghorbani Founder & Technical Director, Project Control Academy, Conference Chair
Kamran Akbarzadeh, PhD, PMP, DTM Akbarzadeh CEO, Project Control Academy, Conference Chair

And all the summit team members !! 👏 🙏

Sr Cost Control Manager

I really enjoyed learning this year. Subjects, materials and discussions were more than well prepared and perfectly organized.
I thank you for the chosen subjects, were advanced and updated to the projects environment overall the world and considered most of projects concerns that newly raised due to sharp changes in the world economies strategy and countries unstableness.
Especially, BIM, P6, new technologies, new software, Power BI, focusing on project performance not only progress, risk management and agile management “I am working at Egypt and prediction is not easily to be done within unstable currency and economic conditions, so the agile chapter was valuable and interesting”.
I like the example of what is the role of project control “navigator”. I used it in my next meeting with the Top Management and Project Directors. Actually, they liked the example and they were more understanding about my team role.
I wish next Summit Conference, add more time for agile real example, contract knowledge and risks, project deficiencies that seem regardless but could cause failure, bidding “cost time contract” for agile projects, supply chain management as sometimes is the core of achieving a succeed project control process and procurement schedule.
Many Thanks for the amazing Summit team. Good job and keep going up 👏👏

I recently had the pleasure of participating in the Project Controls Summit, and I must say it was an exceptional experience. As a virtual attendee, I was initially unsure about the level of engagement and networking opportunities I would have, but I was pleasantly surprised by the seamless and immersive nature of the conference.
One of the standout features of the virtual conference was the interactive platform that was used. The organizers did an excellent job of creating a virtual environment that mirrored the atmosphere of an in-person conference. The platform included various interactive elements that made me feel connected to other attendees and speakers. The chat feature allowed me to engage in real-time conversations, ask questions, and share thoughts with other participants. I found this particularly valuable as it fostered meaningful discussions and allowed me to network with professionals from diverse backgrounds and industries.
The virtual networking sessions were well-organized, enabling me to connect with like-minded individuals and establish valuable professional relationships. In conclusion, the Project Controls Summit exceeded my expectations.

Sr. Project Controls Manager - High Performance Consulting, Inc

The recently completed Project Controls Summit was my first time attending this high learning-value event. I came to the summit with no clue as to what to expect and unsure if investing my time attending would be a good choice. Now, I am very grateful and satisfied with the outcome and the great learning and networking experience I had during those three days of the summit.
Knowledge areas ranging from discussing the complementary nature of the Project Management and Project Controls functions, the use of Power BI integrated with BIM to report on the properties/attributes of the elements of the models, and planning and scheduling best practices were presented with high clarity and mastery by the subject matter experts invited for the occasion. The technical/technology panels discussing Cost Estimating Lessons and Best practices, Project Risk Management and Artificial Intelligent impact on Project Controls provided insight on ways for the PC professionals to keep pursuing continuous improvement while staying abreast of the whole new world of AI’s applications available to support and improve on self-performance. The impressive display of software tools provided by the sponsors touching the areas of integrated project execution, data driven project management, schedule delay analysis and project risk management among others where robust enough as to satiate the appetite of even the most technical inclined PC professionals.
The specific discussion regarding the functions and duties of cost account managers within the government setting was also very well explained as contrasted with typical cost engineering functions in off-government applications.
I feel compelled to also highlight the great discussion on the subject of diversity in project teams and the richness of perspectives, experiences, and skills it entails with regard to successful project delivery. The social aspects of embracing diverse and inclusive culture were respectfully exposed and framed in the current world of globalization and remote interactions.
Last but not least, the closing keynote on Leadership shed light on the human perspective of how instances of personal failure, when assumed and channeled positively may become building blocks for future success. True leadership does not rely on hierarchical authority within a company but is all about influencing by providing vision, hope, and eagerness to truly listen to what the targeted audience has to say.
Personally, I enjoyed the sessions on Risk Impact Sensitivity Analysis (RISA) by Dr. Prasad Kodukula and the one on Improving Schedule Quality By Standardizing Planning & Scheduling Deliverables by Chris Carson the most. Both speakers in their very differing, but equally fun, delivery approaches effectively conveyed their messages on the importance of risk analysis and scheduling development and reporting standardization to improve project cost forecasting and timely execution respectively.
I will definitely recommend other project controls and project management professional to enroll in future summit editions and enjoy fun and enlightening interactions with world class speakers, technical sponsors demonstrating powerful software tools and learning aids, and a distinguished audience from all “corners” of the world.

I am very happy to be part of this year's Project Control Summit. There were lots of very good presentation by the experts and presenters, and I am very thankful to have gained insights from them. What interest me most are the videos in the VIP lounge. There are quite a number of very good and inspiring & motivational videos.

Apart from these videos, the most interesting I've seen is the short break dance video by Kamran and Shohreh. It was truly breaking the ice and quite refreshing.

Again, many thanks to Kamran, Shohreh and to all those who have help to make this summit happen. I look forward to attend the next summit.
