I have been using the beer game simulation by Zensimu for several years now in my Supply Chain Management course. It is the most functional and intuitive beer game tool that I am aware of. As always, everything worked very smooth again and the contact with Zensimu before and after the game was very prompt and professional. The students enjoyed the game and appreciated the possibility to join from various devices (laptops, tablets, smartphones) and the insightful analytics regarding the bullwhip effect.

Lecturer in Supply Chain Management/ Head of Supply Chain Management

I teach undergraduate engineering students and regularly use both the Beer Game and the Lean Game in my courses. I find it very valuable to complement theory with simulations that make the effects tangible.

In the Lean Game, I always refer to the circular model by James P. Womack and Daniel T. Jones, and I introduce key concepts of value stream design—many of which are now already integrated into the game itself.

Using games as a learning method is enjoyable for the students, and equally rewarding for me, especially when observing the outcomes.

The 'Lean Game' by Zensimu is extremely valuable for my course 'process management in SCM' in our master programme 'Supply Chain Management'. In this course we cover a lot of topics within the context of process management - finalizing the course with the identification of weaknesses in the processes and the development, selection, and implementation of measure to improve this situation.

The 'Lean Game' supports our master students by first experiencing an uneffective and inefficient situation, then by discussing what could be done, and then by evaluating the new and improved processes and their impact onto effectiveness and efficiency. The 'Lean Game' is easy to set-up, so that we have a tool, that is immediately ready to use. Both my students and I are very, very satisfied.

Zensimu has enabled our team to deliver impactful Lean training to sister facilities in locations such as Israel and India. The simulation complements the classroom materials by allowing employees at all levels to apply newly acquired knowledge in a hands-on setting. This application strengthens their cognitive understanding of Lean philosophy and tools, resulting in deeper comprehension and retention.

teacher / head of operations

As in the last 6 years the simulation has been helpful to my students to understand the system they are working in and what can be done to improve the own part in that supply chain.

Björn Oskarsson

I've been running a number of sessions, and so far, there has never been any technical problems. Hence, the system seems to be very stable, which of course is really important.

Moreover, the interface is great. There is hardly ever any questions from participants related to problems with understanding how it works or what to do, so lots of credits for this.

Senior Lecturer - Supply Chain Management and Food Operations

I have been using the Beer Game simulation for two of my supply chain management classes for the last 8 odd years. The class sizes are quite large with between 100-200 students at the third year undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Overall, I have found the student experience to be excellent, many mention the learning and enjoyment they experienced in the class evaluations, say that it was a highlight for them. As an Instructor, I have found the UI to be excellent and adaptable to the different scenarios I throw at the students. It is easy to set up and use within our learning management software. I would highly recommend Zemsimu. Associate Professor MW

Exceptional Teaching Tools for Engaging Undergraduate Students in Supply Chain Management!
I can't say enough positive things about the Zensimu Online Beer Game! As a professor teaching an undergraduate Operations and Supply Chain Management core course at American University, I often face the challenge of motivating and engaging students who might not naturally be inclined toward this subject matter. The Zensimu Beer Game has truly been a game-changer—literally!
I had my students work in pairs and assigned everyone to the warehouse role. This setup ensures consistency and avoids skewed results caused by non-serious orders, an issue I’ve encountered in the past. The ability to create direct-access links that students can use from the course’s website—automatically assigning them to the warehouse role—makes the game setup incredibly smooth and foolproof.
The game’s flexibility to customize scenarios allowed me to design a 3-stage supply chain game that perfectly aligned with the example used in the follow-up video lesson. This seamless connection between in-class gameplay and post-class content greatly enhances my ability to reference their direct experiences when explaining key concepts and drives of the Bullwhip Effect.
One of the standout features is the detailed visual summary of results. It aggregates team performances and costs, which I can display immediately upon completion of the exercise. This feature allows me to quickly identify the group that minimized costs at the warehouse stage. I offer extra credit to the winning team, which has proven to be a powerful motivator. Students become deeply invested in their decisions, taking the activity seriously and, as a result, significantly enhancing their learning and engagement.
The fact that I personally cover the cost of access—since my university doesn’t allocate funds for such tools—speaks volumes about its value. This game is far more than an educational tool; it’s an indispensable part of my teaching strategy. I wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone seeking to bring supply chain management lessons to life and provide students with an unforgettable, hands-on learning experience. Five stars all the way!

After research I selected the lean Zensimu game for an Operations leadership team profile session. We ran it with 13 participants, 3 teams and each team had an observer paying attention to team dynamics. Things ran smoothly, the teams really liked the analytics and relevance of lean tools to their work. The team practicing the best collaboration won which reinforced the intended objective. With some practice on your own this is a great 2 hour practical experience for a team trying to get better.

We used the Beergame simulation tool at a procurement seminar for purchasers at the International Committee of the Red Cross. For this activity we invited all internal logistics stakeholders to participate in the exercise, to maximize the the awareness and impact of all actors across the Supply Chain. A great and fun way to learn about the bullwhip effect and how to manage it.

I've been teaching with Zensimu games for more than 7 years. And it's a delight.

I've started with the Beer Game in my class at the University of Luxembourg for our Master in Logistic and Supply Chain. Since I've been using it to educate MBAs (International and Executive) to supply chain challenges.

The game is truly fantastic making the teaching experience of Bullwhip and role of the coordination so clear to the students. Always a great moment of fun. And the platform is really engaging for the students.
While I use it mostly face to face, I've started to use it remotely via video conf.
The game is easy to control and very complete in term of details and data shown.

I even recently started to use the Lean Game which is also full of potential to teach operation excellence.

I can only recommend

I have been using Zensimu Games since 2020 as part of online seminars for Supply Chain Management within a remote study curse (B.SC in Logistics). Since then, I have performed the seminar 4 to 5 times a year, mostly with the traditional beer game. As a seminar leader with more than 20 years of experience, I am very impressed by the functionality of Zensimu: The participants can get started after a very short introduction and it is very easy for me to lead several games at the same time. The various diagrams allow a vivid representation of the effects that occur in the game. Compared to the classic board game, the supervision effort is very low. Finally, I really like the fact that Zensimu is constantly working on improving the Beer Game and also frequently introduces new games. Overall, I am very satisfied with the tool and the support services.

Tim Neumann

Zensimu's Beer Game is the perfect tool to show how companies behave in supply chains. It illustrates important business fundamentals and demonstrates the reasons behind complex planning systems such as ERP systems. In contrast to the physical board game, it is much easier to play and can be customized more easily.

Professor, Supply Chain Management

The Beer Game by Zensimu is an incredible tool for anyone looking to experience the intricacies of supply chain management in an engaging and immersive way. As a college professor teaching Supply Chain Management, I’ve found this simulation to be an invaluable asset in helping students understand the real-world dynamics of logistics, inventory, and production planning.

This game brings theory to life! What makes it stand out is the simplicity of its setup combined with the depth of the learning outcomes. The interface is intuitive, which allows both students and professionals to dive straight into the action without being bogged down by technical difficulties. It captures the ripple effects of decision-making and communication lapses in a supply chain in such a way that the infamous "bullwhip effect" becomes tangible and easy to comprehend.

Watching students collaborate, strategize, and adapt to changes in the supply chain environment is where the magic happens. The simulation challenges participants to balance demand, manage stock efficiently, and work seamlessly as a team. It's not only educational but also fun—students walk away from the experience with key insights that stick with them well beyond the classroom.

For educators and trainers, The Beer Game is a must-have tool in the supply chain teaching toolkit. Whether you're new to supply chain concepts or a seasoned professional looking for a refresher, this simulation captures the essence of real-world operations in an engaging, fast-paced format. Highly recommended!

I have used the Beer Game to enhance teaching experience and learning outcomes with students at AP Degree level with good amount of success.

The game is great when you want to faciltate discussions among students on a number of topics such as Bull Whip Effect, how you should communicate quantities in contracts, timely communications and how you can facilitate collaboration in the supply chain.

The interface of the game and gamification of learning gives the students instant insights into a real life problem and consequences, that I wouldn´t be able to create through other methods such as a case study.

I highly recommend it when teaching procurement and supply chain management.

It is easy to set-up and explain object of the game.

The digital version of the Beergame developed by Zenzimu is almost a compulsory brick in my pedagogy. This is a great way to highlight the criticality of coordinating the interfaces between the key functions and the key role of supply chain management for supporting the execution of strategy based on clear tradeoffs. Beyond concepts, this learning approach enables to discover the problematics of lack of collaboration and data sharing along the supply chain and to do so in a practical, active and even funny manner, which is good to learn. I use it for different population from top managers at excel level (CXOs) to high potential and middle management with a recurrent success and valuable impact.
