I went to the Town School from Kindergarten to Eighth grade. I graduated from town 17 years ago and I still feel indebted to Town. It has made me a lifelong learner and inspired me to become an educator so that I could give others the educational experience that Town gave me. I believe in myself because Town believed in me!

I have such fond memories of my time at Town! I spent kindergarten thru 8th grade there and found myself extremely well prepared for my high school experience at Brearley which is one of the most rigorous academic environments in NYC and my college experience at Stanford. My teachers at Town were amazing and brought learning to life and life to learning. I was thrilled to see one of my favorites, Mrs Tannenbaum, was still teaching when I went back to visit a few years ago. She brought Latin, a dead language, to life. I love seeing how Town has managed to stay true to its essential nature as it’s grown and evolved. I’m happy to say that it’s still the magical place of learning, creativity and spirit that I remember.

Our son has been at The Town School for 9 years and it has been amazing to watch him grow into the young man he is today. From the nurturing teachers in kindergarten, to the teachers who taught him how to make a persuasive argument in the lower school, to his upper school teachers who have supported his growth as a critical thinker, Town is a really nurturing and supportive environment. The leadership of our Head of School and the Board shepherded us through the pandemic in ways that were far above and beyond our expectations. We also love the wonderful community of parents who have become like family. We will miss Town when our son graduates!

I'm the parent of a middle schooler who joined Town in 5th grade. Being part of the Town community has made an enormous difference in my son's life, both academically and emotionally. The academic team (teachers, advisors, learning specialists, psychologists) provides sustained and invaluable support to the students, who thrive in Town's safe, engaging and academically rigorous environment. As a parent, I truly appreciate the school's effective communications, as well as the many opportunities to partner with the faculty and staff to educate my son and to make him an empathetic member of our society.

We have three children at Town and have been so pleased to see how the amazing faculty is helping each of them learn and grow. In addition to academics, Town emphasizes social emotional learning and community in a way that is really unique. On top of all that, the Arts are Town are amazing! We have seen our kids perform in original plays, sing songs written by Town teachers, develop public speaking skills at assemblies and create amazing paintings and sculptures. Town is helping our kids grow in ways we didn't expect and it is so gratifying to see each child develop their unique talents and personalities. We are so grateful for our family's experience in the amazing Town School community!

Town is so intentional about serving the N-8 students and families in its care. With excellent leadership and thoughtful reflection on the school culture and mission alignment, Town just keeps getting better! A gem of the upper east side, I can think of no better place to love and challenge young minds. We just love Town!

Town has been the perfect school for our family. Both of our children have thrived at the school. It is a wonderful mix of academic rigour with a nurturing, community-focused environment. Our daughter graduated with an outstanding foundation of leadership skills, strong writing kills, a love of learning, resilience for academic struggle, and an ability to advocate for herself, work well in groups and engage with faculty. I attribute all of this to the Town School. Similarly my current 5th grader is having a wonderful experience and building a strong foundation for her future.

I grew up at Town, starting at age 3 and going until 8th grade, and I couldn't ask for a better elementary and middle school experience. The core of Town is its community. Town is true to its values of caring for self, others, and surroundings, and fostering joy in learning. Town prepared me for my future in every facet of life, emotionally, relationally, and academically. I am now thriving in high school, and I can only say that that is because of the guidance I received throughout my childhood from Town. Town is the perfect small community that fosters courage, resilience, and compassion in a young student and allows them to form relationships that will carry them through the rest of their lives. Town will forever be in my DNA.
