Dom, Catie, and Mahalia Kelly
Catie and I moved to College Park four years ago after spending months looking all over metro Atlanta to buy our very first house. We never thought we’d live on the south side because we were living in DeKalb at the time, but a house in College Park caught our eyes and we decided to check it out. As soon as we saw the neighborhood, Main Street, all the parks, and the community of people, we fell in love. We now have our one-year-old daughter Mahalia and have been excited to raise her in this city, but the way our council has behaved in recent months has made us question if it’s the right place for our daughter to grow up. We’re are both committed to helping create a better College Park and making it into the community we all deserve.

We have never lived in such a diverse and caring community. It is exactly what we want our children to grow up in. A circle of people, all colors, all ages, all religious backgrounds, all loving lifestyles, and all equally deserving to a seat in this circle.

Randy and I moved here from Peachtree City two years ago after our kids graduated high school, to be closer to Atlanta and still near our mothers. We knew we would enjoy living close to retail and restaurants we love, but we didn’t expect to make connections with neighbors who would become like family. College Park is a community unlike any other we’ve lived. It’s not just rows of homes in close proximity, wherein people come and go about their routines in silos. It’s a community where our neighbors call impromptu even on a Tuesday for drinks because they want to catch up or unwind after work. Often we invite a few folks over to sit on the patio and enjoy the cool breeze, or I run to the market to quickly pick up a few things then spend 20 minutes standing in the pasta aisle talking with my neighbor about her next vacation, child’s graduation, or sick parent. College Park is a connected community wherein lately residents are spending lots of time connecting to solve disfunction in our city government, combatting negative narratives from our council persons, and strategizing to prevent neighborhood amenities from being haphazardly sold or removed because of council members’ personal agendas. We are United College Park, and we believe our connections are worth protecting.

We first move to College Park, several months before the pandemic. We liked the location, the ability to walk to the Grocery Store, the parks, the Golf course, the energy of the City was so welcoming and energetic. The things we liked became things we loved about our Community. As a result, we doubled down and purchased a home in 2022 near Barrett Park. We moved into our home several weeks ago. Since then, we’ve been welcomed to the neighborhood by neighbor after neighbor, who would stop by baring gifts. We’ve found Home!!! Now, we’re ready to roll up our sleves and contribute to our Village.Allyson Blue
Hello, College Park community! I’m thrilled to share some of my cherished experiences and reflections on our vibrant neighborhood.
One of my all-time favorite memories in College Park is the simple pleasure of sitting on neighbors' porches, reminiscing about the good old days. There’s something truly special about connecting with friends and sharing stories that bring us closer together.
Transitioning from suburbia to the lively streets of downtown College Park has been quite the journey! Adapting to a more urban lifestyle required me to be more aware of my surroundings, especially with challenges like car break-ins. Surprisingly, I find myself missing my old HOA at times! Nonetheless, the charm of the old homes, the warmth of some wonderful neighbors, and the simple joy of enjoying a cup of coffee on the porch make every bit of it worthwhile.
A particularly memorable event is our annual street party, a fantastic celebration where everyone comes together to strengthen our community bonds and create lasting period.
What stands out most about our community spirit is the responsiveness of my elected council member. Despite being new to the area and not part of any established groups, I found it incredibly empowering to be able to support and elect someone who genuinely dedicates herself to the well-being of the constituents. It’s a blessing to have a representative who bases decisions on thorough research and facts, rather than outside influences.
Thank you all for making College Park such a unique and lovely place to live. Let’s keep making wonderful memories together!Alicia Rylander
I grew up in the metro Atlanta area. My parents used to drive my family around areas they lived growing up. I always loved this area particularly College Park. The beautiful homes with trees canopying the streets. Here I am living here for almost 20 years. I love our community and how we look out and support each other. Our diverse community comes together no matter what. Our differences are what makes us unique and makes this such a great place to live.
Let’s support each other now to keep our city great and help make it even better! We deserve more!! We deserve better!! Let’s protect our fabulous community!! Time to come together more than ever!!ellen holland
I was raised in CP and have lived here 52+ years. My great grandparents lived here and raised my grandfather here and he raised his 5 children here. My dad’s parents raised their 7 children here. CP has always been a city which embraces diversity and welcomes everyone. It is this spirit which we must strive to keep alive in this sweet city.

College Park is home. It is filled with amazing people, beautiful parks, and fun things to do for my entire family. I'm so glad that we chose to live here. College Park is the crown jewel of the Atlanta metro area. And it's our job as citizens to ensure College Park remains that way.

We chose College Park for its charm – the historic homes, walkable streets, and friendly neighbors. We love grabbing a burger and drinks at Brake Pad, and the convenience of MARTA for catching Atlanta United games or exploring downtown Atlanta. The potential of Six West and Mercer and Main developments is exciting. However, since January 2024, we've felt a decline in responsiveness from our local government and a lack of accountability. These aren't the reasons we fell in love with College Park. It's time for a change to ensure our community remains a safe and vibrant place for everyone.
