I’m excited to share that I’ve successfully completed the Product Design Launchpad (PDL) - Cohort V, mentored by Rohan Mishra.

Over the past few months, this journey has been much more than learning design tools. It challenged me to think like a product designer, understanding user problems, validating ideas through research, crafting meaningful experiences, and communicating design decisions with confidence.

Coming from a background in German language specialization, customer operations, and teaching, transitioning into Product Design has been both exciting and rewarding.

This program helped bridge the gap between theory and real-world product thinking, giving me the confidence to approach problems with a product-first mindset.

A heartfelt thank you to Rohan Mishra for building not just designers, but confident problem-solvers. One thing that truly stood out throughout this journey was your ability to simplify even the most complex challenges. No matter the problem, you always had a practical, user-centric way of approaching it. Your mentorship has instilled the confidence to trust the design process, ask better questions, and focus on solving the right problems. That impact will stay with me far beyond this program.

A special thank you to Nishant Saini for the constant guidance, thoughtful feedback, and unwavering support throughout this journey. Highly recommend Mastry for product designers. The 16-week cohort completely transformed my approach to research. We did real on-ground case studies, including riding pillion with Rapido drivers. We also mastered Vibe coding with strict spec-level clarity. The mentors give honest, sugar-free feedback that genuinely pushes you. It’s hard to believe that our PDL journey has come to an end.
Coming from a non-design background, with experience in German language roles and teaching, I’ve stepped into an entirely new world.
It was exciting, but also intimidating. There were moments of self-doubt, moments where I questioned whether I belonged, and moments where I had to unlearn old ways of thinking.

As this journey has come to an end, I can confidently say it was one of the best decisions I've made for my career.

Although I couldn't attend the Graduation Day due to xyz family reasons, (I reallyyyy wanted to attend 🥹, sorry Rohan sir ) I didn't want to let this milestone pass without expressing my gratitude.

PDL taught me how to think like a product designer, how to ask better questions, solve problems with empathy, embrace feedback, and stay curious. PDL challenges each learner whichever background they come from or level of working experience they have.

It's been a great experience at Product Design Launchpad (Cohort 5) by Mastry.

I came from a civil engineering background with no working experience.

After exploring UX design online I was stuck on YouTube tutorials and free resources.

I understood some of the things on surface level but always had doubts.

I did not find any clear cut answers because I was unable to understand the whole context behind it. Then I came to know about PDL through Mastry.

Initially I was hesitant about whether this program would live up to my expectations. But after going through their application and interview process I realized that this program is built different from the rest out there in the market.

PDL has totally changed my perception about UX design.

I came with a belief that UX designers deal with only designing screens but that misconception was cleared in the first week of the program itself. It's much more than that. There's a lot that happens before designing the screens.

Understanding users and their problems, conducting research, identifying patterns, designing thoughtful solutions, testing those solutions with the users and so on.

PDL gave me the strong foundations which I needed. It has helped me in my overall development not just the UX and UI skills but also communication, collaboration skills, teamwork and problem solving by working on different types of projects with my teammates and competing with other groups which added a lot of fun during this journey. It also gave me experience of working with deadlines and taught me time management skills.

PDL challenges each learner whichever background they come from or level of working experience they have. The ones who grind through these 4 weeks always have an edge over other UX candidates out there in the market.

All the mentors are amazing. Always available to help and clear our doubts whenever needed. They encourage and motivate whenever you feel self doubt or lag behind.

The whole team is always supportive. Graduating from the program wasn't the end. My mentors have become lifelong companions who continue to guide and support me.

PDL has been a truly transformative experience for me, both professionally and personally. Coming from a design background, I was already familiar with various tools and research methods, but PDL taught me how to apply them meaningfully and approach problems with a more strategic and user-centred mindset.

The biggest change I’ve seen in myself is confidence. I joined as someone who often hesitated to share my thoughts or speak up, and today I feel much more comfortable expressing my ideas, presenting my work, and sharing my perspective publicly.

Beyond design skills, PDL also taught me the value of consistency, collaboration, feedback, and trusting the process. I joined to grow as a designer, but I’m leaving as a more confident and thoughtful version of myself.

I would definitely recommend PDL to anyone who wants to grow as a product designer, strengthen their design thinking, work on meaningful case studies, and most importantly, gain the confidence to trust their own process and perspective as a designer.

The sessions with Rohan were great for revision and myth-busting.

Getting into this cohort polished everything about UX research for me from the ground up.

I learned not just about UI/UX, but how to work in a team where there are knowledge gaps and create an equilibrium so everyone is on the same page.

Divya has been a constant pillar of support, always there for me to recheck my designs and process to ensure I'm doing things the right way.

From non-stop workshops to continuous assignments and interviews, PDL connected everything perfectly.

As an introvert, I found a great system here that helped me open up, ask questions, and step out of my shell.

I cannot thank the mentors enough- they act like friends and great guides.

Even when asking hesitant questions, the environment is so supportive.

The whole PDL experience was incredibly fun, we had great interactions, and I learned a lot!

Mentors ka mentoring style bahut inclusive hai; late-night doubt clearing se lekar continuous support tak, they are always there.

The long sessions, daily assignments, and business case studies really build your confidence and clear your concepts.

PDL is not just about design; the real learning here is completely different.

Mere parents ki expectations high thi, and I was losing my confidence, but PDL ke mindset sessions ne mera confidence wapas build kiya.

The way you walk, the way you talk, the way you express your personality- sab change ho gaya. Ye ek complete transformation tha mere mindset, personality, aur communication ka.

Learning through the business case studies and daily assignments was an amazing experience, and I am so grateful to Rohan sir, all the mentors, and this incredible new environment of people.

Being in another timezone and waking up every day at 5 AM just with the thought that Rohan is standing there for 5 hours explaining concepts was incredibly motivating.

The way my research process and thinking have changed is amazing, and I have gained immense confidence to even post my learnings publicly.

Nishant’s patience and calmness after a long day of work kept us all grounded. Himanshu is not just background support; he is a great mentor who is just a ping away, even at 12:30 at night.

Whenever juniors ask me about PDL, I confidently tell them to go for it because they will come out with flying colors.

My team, Fast and Curious, is full of selfless and emotionally connected people who I will deeply miss!

What makes PDL unique is the in-depth, foundational knowledge it provides, unlike other big courses that only give you overhead knowledge.

Rohan genuinely looks into the detailed aspects of every case study.

The diverse mix of working and non-working people was incredible, and the kind of doubt-clearing and peer learning we had increased my confidence immensely.

Doing a complete case study within a week- from research to solution to prototyping—was uniquely practical and interesting.

From the very first interview, I realized that PDL is not just about getting a certificate; it’s about actually learning and building something real.

A massive thank you to Nishant, who stood by my side from day one, patiently motivating me and calming me down whenever I panicked at the last minute before submissions.

My team, Fast and Curious, and peers like Chakshu and Shilpa were always ready to help me from scratch whenever I got stuck.

Rohan, your words constantly motivated me not to skip presentations and to just put myself out there. I found a great community here- friends who feel like family just next door!

Before PDL, I only knew design concepts theoretically, but here I actually learned how to apply them practically, like converting low-fidelity wireframes to high-fidelity.

The Individual and Business Case Studies gave me the confidence to approach real people for research; I even interviewed a stranger in the metro, which was a huge milestone for me!

A big thank you to Nishant for constantly encouraging me when interacting was difficult, and to Himanshu for always having a solution.

Joining PDL was the best decision for my career switch, and I have to thank Divya for motivating me not to compare my journey with anyone else's.

PDL completely shifted my mindset, starting with the golden rules like 'you are not the user' and teaching us to understand why a problem exists before jumping to solutions.

Coming from a non-design background, the opportunity to learn from peers and experienced mentors was exactly what I needed.

The Business Case Studies (BCS) worked wonders for me; we were given a problem and had to figure out the path from scratch, which built my practical knowledge.

I used to lack confidence in speaking, but the group calls and classes made me comfortable asking doubts.

Now, we know exactly what path we are supposed to take in our careers, and we can even guide others

Before joining PDL, my confidence was completely shattered, and I honestly didn't know where to begin or who to approach for mentorship.

I spoke to several alumni, and literally every one of them said it would be a great experience where I would learn a lot, so joining was the best decision I made.

Over these four months, I looked forward to every class, doubt session, and group meeting every single day.

The community has been like family, with peers like Chakshu, Shilpa, and Anusha always helping me clear my doubts.

Mastry is a great platform to learn UX, but what truly sets it apart is how it teaches you to think from both the user's and the business's perspective. Rohan is an exceptional mentor, supported by an amazing team that genuinely cares about your growth. I've taken several UX courses over the years, but joining this cohort has been one of the best decisions I've made. It has helped me strengthen not just my design skills, but also my product thinking, problem-solving approach, and overall confidence as a UX designer.

It all started when I was at my lowest point in my career and I badly wanted a mentor to guide me, a community where I find likeminded people and share my interest and work with them as a team. After a lot of research, I found out about Mastry and I couldn't have been happier. It is genuinely rare to find a community and a mentor who will not judge you, who are only and only open to any kind of questions (no matter how dumb it may sound), and support you throughout your journey without a second thought. With all my confidence that was shattered before joining Mastry, I genuinely found my mojo back again, and all thanks to Rohan Mishra (The Mentor) and the entire Mastry Team who were available at all times to clear my doubts, pushed me beyond my limits that even I did not realize I had. The community that I absolutely loved interacting with, felt absolutely comfortable with them, learn from them and grow together. I’m really sorry I couldn’t attend the graduation call due to an emergency. I genuinely wish I could have been there, but I still wanted to take a moment to thank you, the entire PDL team, and of course, our amazing mentor, Divya. ❤️

These past four months have been an incredible journey for me. When I joined PDL, I was very low on confidence. I was hesitant to put my thoughts out there, speak in a group, or even trust my own ideas. But gradually, throughout this journey, I was able to overcome a lot of those fears.

Coming from a design background, I already knew many of the design tools and research methods, but PDL taught me something much more important, how to actually apply them, how to think through a problem, and how to approach things with intention and strategy. Working on these case studies genuinely helped me grow and think more deeply as a designer.

Your constant encouragement to stay consistent and post on LinkedIn also made a huge difference. It gave me the confidence to put my thoughts and perspectives out there on social media, something I was always hesitant to do before.

The growth wasn't just professional; it was personal too. I've learned how to manage my time better, approach problems strategically instead of jumping to solutions, and always begin by understanding people and empathizing with the situation before designing. Most importantly, I can confidently say that I'm leaving PDL as a much more confident person than the one who joined.

No matter what time it was, even at 2 AM, you were always there whenever we needed help. The patience you've shown throughout this journey is something I truly admire and hope to carry forward myself.

When I started my UX/UI journey with my certification from IIT Guwahati, I had the knowledge but I still lacked confidence and clarity. I constantly questioned whether I was on the right path.

4 months ago I couldn't hold my own in a conversation with someone who "knew more." I'd just go quiet, agree, and walk away feeling smaller.

Today I can look the same person in the eye and say "I think you're wrong" and that mean it.

That shift didn't come from a Figma shortcut.
It came from the inside PDL by doing hard, unglamorous work every week. Research, case studies, team work, skit presentation, talking with mentor, fun with new friends, getting told "this isn't good enough yet" and going back to fix it.

PDL didn't just teach me design. It taught me how to become someone who doesn't need permission to speak up in a room.

As a member of Cohort 5, I can relate to all that you've shared. For me, the biggest thing has been the community and mentors that are always there to help you out when you are stuck. Each week seems like real progress. Thank you for making something so useful.

From starting with "I might ask a dumb question, don't judge me..." to unceremoniously dropping unhinged, chaotic questions in the chat at 2 AM. What a massive mindset shift this journey has been! 😂

In today’s world, it is so easy to fall into the trap of passive learning. Watching tutorial videos on YouTube and scrolling through insightful reels on Instagram gives you the illusion of competence. It makes you feel like an expert. But there is a canyon-sized gap between consuming content on a screen and actually rolling up your sleeves to build something practical from scratch.

That hands-on execution is exactly the bridge that Cohort 5 built for us.

My biggest takeaways from this incredible community:

When I left my last job, I genuinely thought I had everything figured out.

A few months later, I found myself questioning whether I was even a good designer anymore.

Looking back, I'm actually grateful that confidence was shaken. It forced me to unlearn, start over, and become a much better product thinker.

PDL and the entire Mastry team created an environment where asking "dumb" questions never felt embarrassing. Every critique, every discussion, every piece of feedback pushed me a little further.
